Timeless Visit is built on open data and open-source software. Thank you to everyone who makes them.

Data

• Places, opening hours and addresses: © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Spotted a mistake? You can fix it on OpenStreetMap.
• Our place database: we build it from OpenStreetMap by selecting and merging places, so it is a database derived from OpenStreetMap and is available under the same ODbL. For a free copy of it, or of the method we use to build it, write to contact@timelessvisit.com.
• How notable a place is, its distinctions, and links between sources: Wikidata, under CC0. The labels on a place (UNESCO World Heritage, protected monument, exceptional heritage of Wallonia, national park, Natura 2000, museumPASS) come from Wikidata.
• Descriptions: from Wikipedia, under CC BY-SA 4.0. Most descriptions are excerpts (the first sentences) of the Wikipedia article on the place, linked under each description; the others are short descriptions from Wikidata or, in Flanders, texts from the heritage inventory below.
• Flemish heritage: descriptions in Dutch and the dating of buildings (“13th century”) in Flanders come from the inventory of Onroerend Erfgoed (Flanders Heritage Agency), under the Modellicentie Gratis Hergebruik v1.0. Each place that uses them links to its record in the inventory.
• Photos: from Wikimedia Commons. Each photo has its own author and licence, shown on the photo with links to the photo’s page and to the licence.

Map and search

• Map tiles: OpenFreeMap, using the OpenMapTiles schema, with data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
• Place search: Photon by komoot, with data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
• Map display: MapLibre GL JS (BSD 3-Clause), through svelte-maplibre (MIT).

Software and fonts

• Svelte (MIT), Tailwind CSS (MIT) and daisyUI (MIT).
• Opening hours are read with opening_hours.js (LGPL 3.0).
• Fonts: Fraunces by the Fraunces Project Authors and Inter by the Inter Project Authors, both under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, served from our own server.
